Whilst clearing out the shed the other day, I unearthed some long lost treasures – boxes and boxes of homemade wine that a packaged up when we moved house last year and promptly forgot about. What a delight to pull out bottle after dusty bottle, some unmarkedand mysterious, other labelled with familiar names bring back memories of early adventures in homebrew.  Some had previously been tried and found wanting, and then left in the hope that improve with age. Others were completely untested. Something will have to be done.

Yes, I think its time to gather the troops and have a serious tasting  session. Among the delights on offer will be:

  • Runner Bean wine (2006)
  • Strawberry wine (2006)
  • Banana wine (2007)
  • Whatever-was-left-in-the-fridge wine (2008)
  • Elderberry wine (2005)
  • Coffee wine (2008)
  • Unlabelled white wine 1
  • Unlabelled white wine 2
  • Unlabelled red wine
  • Mead (2008)
  • Cider (2008)
  • Apple wine (2006)
  • Hazelnut liqueur
  • Green stuff that smells like absinthe

But where will I find a group of guys so lacking in taste and judgement that they will be attracted by the prospect of sampling the menu above? Where will I find people so adventurous (or insane) that they would be willing to drink these concoctions which will quite possibly be hideous and potentially slightly harmful.

I know… church.
