Beer Review: London Pride – Fullers

When it comes to English Pale Ale, Fuller’s London Pride is considered by many to be the quintessential classic. Its the draught option at the pub opposite work so I often enjoy a cheeky one at lunchtime. This is not a beer that is going to rock your world, but its a great example of a classic style and is extremely drinkable.

It pours an amber turning caramel with a decent head that leaves plenty of lacing. In the nose there is a caramel maltiness, perhaps some buscuit and the subtle floral notes from the English hops (Target, Challenger and Northdown). The taste is clean with an earthy bitterness, but the focus is on the slighty toasted maltiness. The hopping is mild and fruity making it easy to drink in quantity. The mouthfeel is smooth and soft with medium body and light to moderate carbonation.

Overall, a no-frills but immensely drinkable english ale. You can easily enjoy several pints without any fatiguing the palate. Trust me.
