Country Wine for Fendog’s Quiz Night

Not satisfied with entering the the Jerusalem marathon, Fendog has planned another charity event in aid of Confident Children out of Conflict.

It going to be a quiz night held at the church next Saturday and he’s keen to have a homebrewing themed round. The plan is to have a beer-tasting section where people have to work out whether the beer they are drinking is a commercially produced one, or what that we have made ourselves here at What Would Jesus Brew?

There is also going to be a wine-tasting section where people will have to taste some of my old country wines and work out what fruit or vegetable its made from. So this morning I did a bit of excavation work in the garden shed and uncovered some crates of country wine that have not seen the light of day for years. Most of the bottles were covered with crud and cobwebs and loads of the labels had disintegrated. I can work out what most of them are, but some Fendog will have to work out on the night and blag it.

I’ve picked a few bottles for him which I think will do the job well. Some of it will be very pleasant, and some (like the 2006 Orange Wine) will no doubt be really nasty. Unfortunately, I’m off to visit the Mentor so I wont be able to make it to the Quiz Night myself. I’m gutted to be missing it, but hopefully Fendog will blog a full report afterwards.
